I think Woody Allen does better not to pretend to be Swedish. greekturkish/bluebiggrin.gif He should stick to the Annie Hall style. Not too serious but not like his early goofball stuff either.

Dude, Woody is my favorite director of all time. His lighthearted comedies are his best stuff. Zelig, Hannah and Her Sisters, Annie Hall, Manhattan Murder Mystery, etc... But, Interiors is an amazing film too. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

OK, now you are just showing off mate. Have you really been to all these places? Aren't you in your early twenties? When did you do all this?

Don't mind the jealous undertones of this post, btw.

Yes, thanks to trains and planes, and not going to university and blowing that money on world traveling, which made me cosmopolitan, multilingual, and so far only employable as an English language teacher.

Of course it does, in subtler forms."

No one likes Match Point??? I know it's no Annie Hall but Woody can write murder/romance really fucking well.

I still don't list him as one of my favorite directors. He's just a New York freak that bangs his daughter in law and writes play-type films that could just as easily be translated into theater.

Richard Kelly's Donnie Darko or Alex Proyas' Dark City; those are the types of movies Turkish film makers should look into more closely.

Match point was great and i think Scarlett was at the peak of her beauty in that movie. greekturkish/Wub2.gif

Match point was an almost remake of Crimes and Misdemeanors, a bit lighter, with prettier characters.

Scarlet Johansson and her boobs are awesome, but I'll take the young Diane Keaton over her any day (she's not in Crimes... btw).

P.S: Screw Donnie Darko, but greekturkish/Thumbsup.gif for mentioning Alex Proyas. Dark City is the best noir science fiction ever. OK, maybe second after Blade Runner.

Man, I'm all Jewed out over here, enough Woody Allen.

Let's talk Tony Gatlif.

I saw Latcho Drom years ago, and I've just downloaded a bunch of his stuff, plus for Rumluk I hit up Theo Angelopoulos. And Vodka Lemon got me wanting more of Hiner Salim.

So:

-Transylvania
-Exils
-Vengo
-Ulysses' Gaze
-Topio Stin Omixli
-American Drug War: The Last White Hope
-Ko To Tamo Peva
-Pulp Fiction (seen it, but not for a while)
-Franco, ese Hombre
-Kilomètre Zéro
-The Fountain
-Le confort et l'indifférence
-God Grew Tired of Us
-Alefbay-e Afghan

Which to watch first?

Finally watched Three Monkeys, and I loved it. best film of N.B. Ceylan that I saw.

OTOH, I might get cancer if I see another film that takes its theme as the lack of communication between people (which is one of the themes in this one, and a repetitive theme in this guy's movies). Those long, uncomfortable silences... Great film-making, not very good for viewer health in high doses.

I'm a fan of Jugoslavia in general, you could say.

I don't know very much about cinema, but I've watched many Jugoslav films in the last years.
