It actually does look kind of like Beirut, which is nothing to be ashamed of.

When it comes to the beauty of the landmark, no fucking city on this earth can be compared with Istanbul. It's mother nature's magnum opus. greekturkish/Yes.gif

On the other hand, we (greeks/turks) must accept that we suck in building modern cities.

@mechanicalghost
Beirut rocks mate!!! Especially the women. greekturkish/bluebiggrin.gif

That I'll agree with, Istanbul's panoramic view is really something else. And a night cruise along the Bosporus will simply take your breath away.

Back to the topic.

Why dont Greeks feel a grudge against westerners for the sacking of Constantinople?

The Crusaders were looters, robbing cities and entire nations in the name of catholic Christianity. The Crusaders didnt come to conquer Constantinople, but merely to rob it and go back home with the loot.

They did not hold the Greek nation captive for 300 years like the Turks did, we merely got a punch in the face from them.

Crusaders conquered only Constantinople. After the city fell, instantly 4 different Greek empires emerged. Mistras, Epirus, Nicea and Trepizond. Mistras re-established the empire in 40-50 years time by throwing out the Crusaders from Constantinople without even a fight.

Ok Istanbul landscape is good man. But lets not overdo it. Rio in Brazil gangbangs Istanbul as far as landscape is concerned.

I thought that issue was already resolved, wasn't it?

Anyway, I was really enjoying the picture war. Is it over?

edit: Nope. Thanks Giorgios.

domestos- 09-16-2008
Rio has a potential. A friend of mine says Rio's landmark makes an Istanbulian feel home. But still they don't have a Bosphorus. It's just a pile of rock on the water. greekturkish/toytoy.gif

Here you go my friend. I shall continue the pic war for your pleasure.

Indeed ugly roofs. But merely the fact that all the apartment buildings are almost exactly the same height, this creates a funky effect of order into chaos. You can actually see where the roads are even if you cant see them directly just by the shapes the buildings create. All due to the uniform height.
