A member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) who killed seven of his party members while they were sleeping performed the act in “legitimate self-defense” the Diyarbakır Prosecutors Office said in an indictment released yesterday, though prosecutors are still seeking life imprisonment for his other crimes.

The indictment prepared by prosecutors says the anonymous PKK member was involved in several attacks in the late 1990s, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and the wounding of five others. He is also accused of distributing PKK propaganda among forestry workers in 2006.

In his defense, the PKK member said he joined the terrorist organization in 1998 after economic and family problems caused him to go into a depression. “I quit the group in 2003, but did not surrender. However, the group started to threaten my family and forced me to join back in 2005. I was treated as a coward and an agent by the group,” he said.

The member said he was abused and discriminated against after he re-joined in 2005, adding, “They were whispering among themselves and pointing to me all the time. ‘You will be taken care off,' they used to say. I thought they would kill me so one day I machine gunned seven PKK members in the base where we were while they were asleep, and then surrendered to the Gendarmerie.”

The prosecutor's office asked for a life sentence for the four acts of terrorism the PKK member committed. The office also said the murder of the seven PKK members was outside its jurisdiction, describing the act as within the bounds of “legitimate self defense.”

The PKK is recognized by the European Union and the United States as a terrorist group. The Turkish military has been conducting air strikes against PKK bases in northern Iraq for the past six months, while intensifying the fight against the organization within Turkish borders.




The lad should be given a medal but still sent to prison! Seven is to little, he should have killed at least 15, mutilated another ten and raped a few of their women before he surrendered.

Why not to send to prison? He took lives, didn't he? Doesn't matter whose lives they were. Besides, he must have sent him to the prison also bec. he was member of an illegal terroristic group.

So if you were to sent to a PKK camp, before you left, you would rape women there and kill men? Nice.

Obviously i will never be in such a position and i have never been in such a position, but i dont think have i would have any problem whatsoever putting a bullet through each one of their heads if i could get away with it. What difference is there between a turkish soldier killing them on the mountains when they fight or in their camps when their sleeping? We kill them with f-16's regularly in the same way. The moment they join that organisation they have taken a vow to fight turkey, i seriously couldnt care less about their fate anymore. Before anyone points out that turkey created this problem, you will find a thread on this forum from a few months ago stating that most kurds enlisting in PKK in N.Iraq are of syrian origin and are fighting for their greater kurdistan idea as opposed to personal trauma at the hands of turkish security forces.

No surprise about Greek mentality here. Even if it was presented as a sarcastic joke. This kind of thinking not only created Macedonian genocide but also resulted in killing thousands of Turks during Greek invasion of Izmir.

Also as a side note, on several occasions, escaped women PKK terrorists revealed that several of them were regularly used as sex objects.
