Iran says 12 PJAK members killed in clash near Iraq
Iran has said 12 members of an armed group and four border guards were killed in a clash near the Iraqi border, a news agency reported on Thursday.







The Fars news agency said the armed group had planned to carry out "terrorist activities" in the Islamic state. It did not make clear when the clash happened and did not give details about the identity of those killed. Iranian forces have often clashed in Iraqi border areas with members of the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK), an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). "Some of the terrorists were killed in a clash with security forces and the others escaped to the other side of the border," Fars quoted Shahnam Rezai, a police official in the province of West Azarbaijan, as saying. "Four border guards from the town of Piranshar were martyred in the clash and one was wounded," Rezai added. Iran shares its western borders with Turkey and Iraq. Analysts say PJAK has bases in northern Iraq from which they operate against Iran.

Güvenlik kaynaklarından alınan bilgiye göre; İran güvenlik güçleri, Salmas, Merivan, Hoy-Kotur bölgelerinde PKK’nın İran’daki örgütlenmesi olan PJAK’a yönelik koordineli bir operasyon gerçekleştirdi.
Aralarında PKK/PJAK İran sorumlularından “Harun” kod adlı Faruk Savaşlı ile “Şaho Civanro” kod adlı Celil Kerima’nın da bulunduğu 11 örgüt üyesi öldürüldü, 17’si de yakalandı. İran güvenlik güçlerinin, önceki akşam da PJAK tarafından kullanılan Kandil’in Hınere, Berkim, Kelmar, Sinin, Loran ve Seroke alanlarını top atışına tuttuğu bildirildi. İran topçusunun top ateşinde çok sayıda örgüt mensubunun öldüğü belirtildi.
Bu arada PKK/PJAK sorumlusu 3 kişi geçen ay Tebriz kentinde idam edilerek cezalandırılmıştı. Bir süre önce yakalanan, örgütün İran sorumlularından Reşit Ehkendi’nin de idamla cezalandırılabileceği kaydedildi.
