A small addition: This "historical commission" and "leaving the issue to historians" approaches were initially offered by the Armenian government [I think by Petrosyan circa 1993, but I'd need to check my facts on this], whose priority was to start economic relations with Turkey immediately. This was abruptly declined by the Turkish government at the time, although I don't remember under what exact pretext.

Petrosyan era was a big chance for Turkey but we rejected his hand more than once. I guess it was because of not having an Armenia Policy until that time. Turkey than used Karabagh conflict to freeze the situation. Or as Aliyev officailly said "ya (sınır) kapusu ya (petrol) borusu" policy.

Domestos, surprisingly, I have read that Halacoglu is very brilliant and meticulous in his research. I don't think that a dumbfuck would be made head of the Turkish Historical Society.

The entire Q&A discussion with Halil Berktay (as well as his presentation) at the 2007 Armenians and the Left symposium is available for viewing online: http://www.armeniansandtheleft.com/AATL200...eo/video_17.htm

The symposium was held two months after Hrant Dink's death.
