How far from the Texan coast do you live? Have you got some good beaches there?

Personally, I prefer fishing underwater with a spear gun, but I have a retired relative who moved back to Cyprus into semi-retirement, he has a fishing boat and makes a small living fishing off the coast of Cyprus every morning. I will probably go to Cyprus soon, and have arranged to go out fishing with him, I'll take some photos.

I live in Dallas which is about 270 miles (4hrs drive) away from the beach in Galveston. Galveston is nice but the waters are murky because the Mississippi river empties her silt into the Gulf of Mexico. You have to head out to sea to experience the clear blue waters. BUT, we also have Corpus Christi and Padre Island further south where the waters are like Bahamas.

Your spear fishing preference comes from the Mediterranean blood in your veins. Mrs Kaya and I enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving as well but that is an experience we usually save for home in Mersin, Turkey. All of my uncles are divers and spear fishers there. I'll be heading there in September. Don't forget to post some pics of your time in Cyprus.
