Just wanted to ask anyone, specifically other Turkish members, if they have any info on reliable contacts or building companies that could help with the construction. If you know where to go and what to do, building your own home can be MUCH cheaper.

Trouble is, everyone is trying to get in your pockets here, so any reliable info would be appreciated, if there's any..

I have some experience in Turkey. Unfortunately the contractors are not so reliable, especially if you pay in front you have to run behind them to get them at work. Whatever contractor you take, make sure you don't pay them before the job is finished or at least don't pay them the whole amount.

PS I am building a house in the Netherlands too and it is (although having better contractual agreements) pretty much the same, never pay the whole amount in advance.

Humm thanks guys. Yes we had that problem in the UK too. I know it's a longshot, but any Turkish builders on the forum?! If you have any inside info on good locations to get free or dirt cheap rocks (like from companies or municipalities wanting to wash their hands of it) then please make me privy to that info!
