Since when is Judaism a race?


Can one of the two professors correct me if I'm wrong here, but is Judaism not a religion?

Jews are an ethnic group just like Turks/Greeks/French etc. Judaism is their religion

its exactly what i have been saying....i dont hide that my criticism of the Israeli state is harsh..

but the critique i have received here just goes to show how synonymous criticising the jews is with anti semitism.....perfect way to silence public opinion...

i have stuck the boot into Turkey as well over the years on the forum...did anyone ever accuse me of being a racist against Turks?...in the same manner?...

i have criticised the state, grey wolves, the nationalistic paranoia prevalent in many turks, seeing threats that are not there, assuming Greece wants to destroy her etc etc etc...and no one has accused me of being Anti - Hun, or Anti Turranian or whatever you would be if you were against Turks...

why is it my criticism here is not seen as racist but against Israel it is..?....

im sure one of the enlightened ones above will tell me...

So what about African Jews, or Russian Jews, or those who have converted to Judaism?

Are they included in this special religion/ethnicity? Does one become Jewish by ethnicity, once he/she converts to the Jewish faith?



So me being Orthodox, does that make me Orthodox by race/ethnicity too?


And Deman I know what you mean. Greeks lay into Turks over many things, nobody calls them racist, Turks lay into Kurds(especially as of late), nobody labels them racist either.

Yet utter a word against the state of Israel, and bang, your an anti-semetic nazi pig with 98% of your brain unable to function.


Oh and Deman, I was thinking of inviting our brothers from Israel, they were caught last year though, they might be able to make bail to come for a party down under. Do you think they'd be welcomed?

Converting to Judaism doesnt make you an ethnic Jew, it means you are a convert to their religion. f.e. if a ethnic German converts to Judaism he would be still be an ethnic German with Jewish faith, his nationality wouldnt be altered.

an ethnic Jew could convert to Islam from Judaism but he would still be an ethnic Jew with Islamic faith

Russian Jews are ethnic Jews whose ancestors settled in Russia hundreds of years ago. African/Ethiopian Jews are the descendants of local Ethiopians who converted to Judaism, they are still ethnic Ethiopians, not ethnic Jews. most real ethnic Jews do not consider them as real Jews at all.

Orthodoxism is a conservative branch of Christianity which has no ethnic connotations at all

Whether the Jews are a race or not depends first of all on the definition you use. I personally call them an ethno-religious group with genetic links to an ancient population of the Levant.

I don't know what you call them but you seem to ascribe them at least one collective characteristic, therefore you move closer to the definition of race. Perhaps you were not openly racist like Deman but your remark was antisemitic. Not to speak about it's timing.
