Beijing plays down terror threat to Games

CHINESE authorities have dismissed claims by a militant Islamist group that it is responsible for several fatal bus bombings and is planning a jihad against the Olympic Games.

China has been warning for months that terrorism, especially from Muslim Uighur separatists in Xinjiang, poses the grea-*test*-('") threat to the Olympics. It says it has uncovered five separatist groups this year and arrested 82 on suspicion of plotting against the Games, which open on August 8.

Police and officials have rejected the Turkestan Islamic Party's claim that it made several attacks, including the two bus bombings in Yunnan this month that killed two people and a bus explosion in Shanghai in May that killed three people.

A Beijing security expert said the group's claim was probably just an attempt to terrorise the public and upset the Olympics. "This is more like a war of nerves or battle of wills," he said.

The group was known to security forces but more details were being kept from the public...

Terrorist attack kills 16 Chinese police

A TERRORIST attack in China's far north-west has left 16 police dead and 16 more injured — and China's Olympic organisers jittery three days before the Beijing Olympics start.

The attack took place yesterday morning in Kashgar, in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, a vast area bordering Central Asia that is home to China's largest Muslim population.

The official Xinhua newsagency said two attackers drove a truck and threw two hand grenades into a team of police who were jogging outside a police station at 8am. Police witnesses said the attackers, who have been apprehended, also attacked the injured with knives after the truck veered into an electricity pole.

Fourteen policemen were killed on the spot and two others died on the way to hospital.

The Xinhua report said the regional public security department had clues suggesting that the East Turkistan Islamic Movement, a known Xinjiang separatist group, was planning attacks during the week ahead of the Beijing Olympics. The movement, which reportedly operates in Xinjiang and in neighbouring Afghanistan, is listed by the US, the UN and China as a terrorist group...

Fuck that. Wheres the fucking mass hysteria in the anglo-saxon media?!!!

A small device explodes in Athens prior to the games, not connected to the games, nobody killed or injured, and the anglo media goes wild.
16 people killed in China before the games in terrorist attack, not to mention the other foiled terrorist plots against the games venues, and the anglo media remains calm.

Greeeaaaaat you fucking retarded Uygurs, create an excellent advert for yourselves as bearded Islamist fundies, then surely mighty God will smile upon you and make the world see your plight...

From a Turkic society once equal, that revered womankind and honoured nature and the fruits it gave them to a dusty rabble of stunted hobos shuffling around in the sand with Kalashnikovs screaming God is great in a language they don't understand - all courtesy of that frightful day in Talas when they sided with the Arabs. greekturkish/sad.gif

Nothing wrong if it is a quote, but if that's the case I'd like to know the author to see what else he/she has written. greekturkish/Yes.gif

its not a quote. Arabas is a fucking genius and statues of him should be put up all over the world.

end of story

Arabas Perna- 08-08-2008
Lol it's not a quote, but maybe I should write a book :P

Uski, yeah you're right about the plight of the Uygurs, they have been marginalised and victims of decades of subtle assimilation programs mostly via the mass imports of Han Chinese, and this - plus the tortures and police brutality towards them - IS wrong and ought to be more well known. But the powers that be in Uygur society have to be retarded not to follow their next door neighbour Tibet in their methods. In fact it's less to do with being retarded and more to do with the mullahs and religious knobs at the spearhead of the Uygur 'movement' that like the power and their pockets being lined. All they want is conflict with the Han, a solution would merely land them out of a job..
That's the practical side of things. From a romantic stance, it's painful to see what the Uygurs once were and what they've become.

They almost had their Atatürk, Isa Alptekin, who would have led a Kemalist style revolution and ousted the malignant presence of cancerous religion making itself heard and obeyed in every echelon of society. I think he was in power for a while anyway, but he ended up living out his days in Turkey whilst his homeland, it's history and any chance of social and economic success as an independent natin was ravaged by Taliban style wankers.

I see a lot of empty seats at Beijing 2008.
Interesting.
A country of over 1 billion people, and they can't fill seats.
Guess it's not just the little countries like Greece which have that problem..
