There is a much more respectable forum than this forum(which is a disgraceful showcase of Neo-Ottomanist, anti-nationalist discourse at its worst forms on the part of the regular Greek posters) about the Macedonia issue. They had an interesting poster named Vasiliye Gligorov a national of Vardar, that identified as a Serb and renounced Macedonian identity:

What he writes is what the Greek media does not write. He says that in his country if someone declares the Macedonian identity false, openly denies that identity and declares they are something else, like he declared in his open affidavit that he is Serb, that they are isolated, ridiculed, psychologically castigated. Public figures who do the same(he pointed out a few) get even more high profile insults and denigration.
The Greek media, politicians, Foreign Ministry instead ignore or de-emphasize such info and instead train their staff to go to International Bodies, and teach the Greek population to build a historical case on antiquity and argue over that(which makes Greeks look like lunatics from trying to argue current events with facts and arguments of what happened 2,000 years ago).
